Despite the snow yesterday the Ontario Masters athletics indoor season got off to a strong start. several hundred athletes over 30 years of age competed in track events from the 50m to the 3000m and a number of field events. Once again I was impressed with the level of competition and the friendlyness of the athletes. I ran the 300m and 800m (finishing mid pack in both).
The second meet of the season is this coming Sunday at York University. This is a world class facility including a 200m indoor oval, full field event sites and a straight for the sprints. All surfaces are rubber. Shower and change rooms are also on site. Timing is electronic with photo finishes (if needed - these meets are eligiable to set Canadian and World records).
