Hello all,
I just wanted to announce the date and time of the 2nd Annual Diabetes Swim Race: Tuesday, March 23rd from 8:15-9pm at the Peterborough YMCA. Dr. Brian Lindsay and I will once again be going head to head in a swim race of epic proportions (well epic for us...). The race will be a 100 metre individual medley (yes that means butterfly, too) all to raise money for the Canadian Diabetes Association. Last year was a lot of fun and I want to thank everyone who came out and supported the event!
For those who don't know, the fundraiser idea originated as a challenge between Brian and myself, two non-swimmers, to see who was faster and eventually evolved into a great way to raise money for diabetes research. With a lot of help from this community, we were able to raise over 2000 dollars last year, which more than exceeded our goal!
You can make your donations at the event or drop off a cheque at the YMCA front desk in an envelope marked ATTN: Chris Ott. Cheques can be made payable to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Also, everyone who makes a donation will receive entry for a draw prize which will include merchandise from Flavour and Runner's Life. Thanks a lot to Mike Watt and Dave Dame for donating these prizes! I also want to give a big thank you to Bob Gallagher and Maggie Sullivan for providing us the YMCA pool facility as a venue to host this event.
