This is now implemented by inserting a Read more... tag (the button is located below the editor area) a dotted line appears in the edited text showing the split location for the Read more....

Simply put the text you want to appear in the first page and then click the read more button and it puts a line there.  Continue to put the rest of your content in the article below that line.  Now when you view your blog or article the system autmatically puts a read more link and lets the user see the rest of the article after clicking the link.  

For example, most of the front page content was created i this way and all of the blogs made by Terry use this feature.
